Enrollment has been enrolling at BASHH.

And you can still join us.

What a time.

I would be a lie if I said that this has been an easy journey. Between nonstop meetings, doing the marketing, admin, and enrolling students, working freelance and a part time job...it has been exhausting. But is every second of it worth each time an herbalist calls BASHH home? ABSOLUTELY.

A few seats have opened up in the Clinical program and Pre-Clinical has some too. I dare you to join us! After you apply, keep reading. There's more to consider below.

This week has been interesting. A beloved herb farm that has some of the BEST herbs burned down. It was sudden and thankfully no one was hurt. I've seen the herb community rally around them and raise funds to help them rebuild. I adore them and their plants, they taught at my herb school when I was student. There is a "yes and" here for me as a Black herbalist: being white absolutely contributed to them being able to raise funds for support so quickly. It is a dual consciousness - not wishing any them harm or struggle, but also taking note of how the herb community chooses to respond to what. It can be disheartening.

That is part of the story. Black herbalists often face financial obstacles to herbal education. Then if we do get it, we are still not supported by the greater herb community in a lot of ways. A lot of my time is taking meetings with organizations who do actually support Black, Indigenous, and POC herbalists in ways that count. I refuse to allow money be the reason herbalists can't get education or BASHH doesn't see many years ahead.

This is why we have a fund.

Ways to Support

Talk About BASHH

Share with your networks. Mention our name when someone tells you they want to learn herbalism. You don't have to be an herbalist to do it: you just have to care about Black wellness and healing. Share the link, bashh.kit.com.

Contribute and Then Share That You Did.

Every single contribution counts, no matter how much it is. Contributions directly translate to scholarships, increased teacher compensation, and operating expenses. Even if you can't, still share the link. Those funds make sure we can get the school rolling with ease.

I am so grateful to everyone who was able to make it, ask questions, affirm their alignment with the school, etc. Transmute/Ether is almost full. Can I be honest with you? I thought Tria Prima would reach capacity first. There are so few Black clinicians that I thought no one was interested. Turns out, we just need a space for us to engage in this work. I'm over the moon to be wrong. No cohort at BASHH...
